PTA Take Your Family to School Week is celebrated each February to pay
tribute to PTA’s legacy of building family-school partnerships. PTA
Take Your Family to School Week will be held February 13–17, 2012 with
the purpose of expanding and enhancing family engagement in schools
across the country. Madera will be celebrating with a week of fun
activities:

  • Monday February 13:
    Are You Smarter Than a Madera 5th Grader? Assembly – Parents Vs Kids
  • Tuesday February 14th:
    Valentine Class Parties – Check with your child’s teacher for times.
  • Wednesday February 15th:
    Family Enrichment Night – Math Around the World by Lawrence Hall of Science
  • Thursday February 16th:
    Restaurant Night – Dine at Barney’s on Solano to benefit Madera PTA
  • Friday February 17th:
    Eat lunch with your child     and then join them on the playground for recess fun

We still have 4 benches left to do – we’ll pick a sunny day after the superbowl and get those done.

Community Meetings on State Budget for West County Schools (El Cerrito Patch)

The West Contra Costa Unified School District is holding community meetings across the district on what the governor’s budget proposal means for schools and what can be done about it. The El Cerrito meeting occurs Feb. 7.

Restaurant Night – IHOP

It’s almost Restaurant Night again. Our first two events were very successful, and we hope to start 2012 off with a bang as well.

Tonight, Thursday 1/19, come on over to IHOP on San Pablo in El Cerrito, where 20% of your ticket will be donated to Madera PTA. This is good ALL DAY, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. So take the kids for a fun breakfast before school, have a cup of coffee and some pancakes after you drop the kids off for school, or bring the whole family for dinner (there’s so much more than pancakes on the menu).

This month is super easy – no flyers to print or coupons to clip. At check out, there will be a box for Madera PTA for customers to deposit their receipt. 20% of the total of all the receipts will be donated to Madera PTA!

There was a slip up on the phone call Tuesday night. Barney’s will host February Restaurant Night.
