Hello all–
I spoke today with Linda Jackson, WCCUSD Executive Director for Elementary Schools for Madera and others in our area. She gave me an update regarding transfers.
She confirmed that ALL transfer students at Madera MUST resubmit a transfer application annually. All transfer families should receive something in the mail regarding this by the end of next week. She said the deadline to submit these applications has not been set yet- they are trying to create an online form and until the form is finalized she does not know when the deadline will be to submit these forms. The deadline of January 26th that was mentioned is not in fact the actual deadline for these applications. She had no idea of the odds of being accepted for next year for those of us who are transfers in.
She also explained that transfers in from under-performing schools are given priority (two nearby such schools are Mira Vista and Stege). She said that siblings will NOT be given priority. There should be more information in the letter from the District next week. Ms. Jackson also mentioned that the prospect of adding a sixth grade at Madera could have an impact on this if space needs to be created on campus for an additional grade level.
